I was nailing something together and needed my son to help hold the other end. While he was helping he asked why we clean the house extra nice when people are coming over? Hmmm, well I told him that we want to make the house nice because its easier to entertain when everything is in its proper place, the atmosphere is more relaxed and inviting if things look neat and clean, and it makes Mommy feel better when things are kept up with.
ReplyDeleteThat got me thinking about the 60/60 Challenge. Shouldn't we want to keep our spiritual 'house' clean and neat? You just feel better when your 'house' is kept up with and things are in their proper place (proper perspective and proper priority).
No, my actual house isn't always clean and proper. My friends know that if they want to see ME they can stop by anytime, but if they want to see the HOUSE they should make an appointment.
I don't think we should expect God to make an appointment to see our 'house'. He should be the friend that you want to drop by anytime. So come to think of it, maybe He doesn't expect us to make an appointment to see Him either! He would love it if we'd just drop by anytime!
Ok, I'm off to clean now.
Today is calm, but overall the week was pretty good too. Learning that in EVERY situation God is not only with us but FOR us is so refreshing and reassuring. No matter what situation we find ourselves in, the reminder alarm goes off and we can redirect ourselves.
